Iran's tile and ceramic outputs increase by 3.6

Iran's tile and ceramic outputs have increased by 3.6 percent in the first five months of the current solar year which started on March 21, compared to the same period of the last solar year, Iranian Jahanesanat newspaper quoted Industry Ministry official Mohammad Fatemian as saying.

According to the report, Iran's tile and ceramic outputs reached 116.103 million square meters during the 5-months period.

Fatemian went on to note that, the country's tile and ceramic outputs amounted up to 25.710 millions during the last Iranian calendar month (July 23- August 22) which indicate an increase by 2.7 percent compared to the same month of the last solar year.

Iran has exported some 90 million square meters of tiles during last solar year.

According to the head of the Iranian tile producers and sellers union, Mostafa Goudarzi, Iran exports 80 percent of its domestically-made tiles and ceramics to Iraq.

He referred to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan as other destinations for Iranian-made products.

He added that some $270 million worth of tiles were exported two years ago.

Iran ranks fifth in the world in terms of tile exports.
