Turkmen President discusses new joint projects with Japanese business community

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on official visit in Japan on September 11-13, held several meetings with the heads of major trade and financial structures of Japan, the statement of Turkmen government said on Friday.

According to the report, the negotiators were president of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Hiroshi Okuda, president of the Japanese export credit agency (NEXI) Kazuhiko Bando and president of the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and the Newly Independent States (ROTOBO), Senior Executive Advisor to Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Corporation Takashi Nishioka.
The possibility of attracting Japanese investment in Turkmen economy and the expansion of cooperation through the implementation of new joint projects and investment programs were discussed at the meeting.
Heads of JBIC, NEXI and ROTOBO presented to Turkmen president a number of promising proposals.
As the report said, the parties agreed that the agreements reached at the highest level, focus on a comprehensive diversification of cooperation "will be the best way to strengthen national economies, jointly confronting the negative effects of the global financial and economic crisis."
