In the future, it is intended to abandon the use of heptyl, which is the poisonous substance in the first class of danger, at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the akim (governor) of Kyzyl-Orda Krymbek Kusherbayev said in the briefing in Central Communications Service for the President of Kazakhstan on Friday.

"The situation for today is maximum allowable. We are also negotiating with Russian specialists, and they confirm that detoxification has occurred. The situation, that previously has been a concern, does not exist any more. It is yet early to talk about full decontamination. It should be observed, as it can be determined not only at the place of incidence. I can not talk about terms yet, but I am convinced that the monitoring should be carried out on a regular basis," the regional head told.

According to him, after the negotiations with the participation of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev it was decided that with time the Cosmodrome will stop using heptyl as fuel for rocket launchers.

It has been specified earlier that it would happen in 2017. Naturally, the Russian side has tightened control over that, even if it is carried out, the launches will be carried out under tight control," Kusherbayev said.

Speaking about the compensation for damage to health of population, the regional head noted that it is necessary jointly with Russian counterparts to solve the problem of the transition to uniform standards, uniform methods of calculations, and only then address the issues of compensation.

Earlier the Kazakh Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov said that Kazakh side insists on the postponement of the date of the next launch of "Proton-M" rocket till complete detoxification of contaminated territory of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
