Uzbekistan establishes national geographical information system

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree on measures for implementation of the investment project 'The Establishment of the National Geographical Information System.

Uzbekistan's National Geographic Information System will be formed as an integral part of the electronic government system, the document said.

The system will include the establishment of satellite geodesic networks and a unified computerized system of the state cadastre and property registration for the rational use and protection of natural resources, integrated development of country's regions.

For realization of the project worth $30.87 million, the Export-Import bank of Korea allocated $15 million soft loan to Uzbek Government from the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund of Korea (EDCF).

The loan is granted for 40 years, including a 10 year loan period.

Uzbekistan invests $15.87 million to the project, some $6.05 million in the form of exemption from the taxes and customs duties.

The realization of the project will cover 2013-2017.
