Growth of the economy is a priority for Turkey, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said, Sabah newspaper reported on Thursday.

According to Gul, despite all taken measures and fiscal taxes in the country, the domestic economy grew by only 15 percent.

He also noted that the economic reforms that were conducted in Turkey for 10 years have led to the strengthening of the country and a large economic growth is expected in the future.

Earlier Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the country's economy will further continue to grow along with the strengthening of democracy.

According to Erdogan, to date, Turkey's national income exceeds one trillion Turkish liras which is an indicator of strength of the country's economy.

Erdogan also said that Turkey has worked out several economic development projects aimed at 2023, 2053 and 2071.

The official exchange rate for Oct. 3 is 2.0187 TL/USD.
