Iranian steel producer hits new record

Iranian Esfahan Steel Company produced 9,845 tons of steel ingots per day, which is a new record, the IRNA news agency reported.

The amount has been produced during 79 melting operations.

According to the report, the company also has hit new record of 3,478 tons cast iron production per day during 28 melting operation.

The Esfahan Steel Company's previous steel ingot production record which registered two years ago, stood at 9,299 tons.

The figure was realized during 74 melting operation.

Later in August, Esfahan Steel Company's web portal reported that the Company's production has increased by 40 percent as a result of reconstruction of the blast furnace No 2 with a production capacity of 1,400,000 tons per year.

Iran's steel production will hit 30 million tons by the end of the Iranian calendar year of 1394 (March 21, 2016).
Tehran plans to increase its steel production up to 55 million tons by 2026.

Iran is reportedly the biggest steel producer in the Middle East and North Africa and the country's main steel mills are located in Isfahan and Khuzestan provinces.

The major raw steel producers of Iran are Mobarakeh Steel Mill, with approximately 47 percent of the market share, Khuzestan Steel Company with about 23 percent of the market share, the Isfahan Steel Company with a market share of 20 percent, and Iran National Steel Industries Group with approximately 10 percent of the market share
