Azerbaijan establishes cooperation with Slovenian entrepreneurs

Azerbaijan, Baku, October 22/ Trend A.Akhundov/

Azerbaijan offers cooperation to Slovenian entrepreneurs, the head of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Fund (AZPROMO) Rufat Mammadov said at the Azerbaijani-Slovenian business forum on Tuesday.

According to him, Azerbaijan is an attractive country for foreign investment.
He informed the representatives of the Slovenian delegation about the successes of Azerbaijan, appropriate investment and business environment, large-scale projects implemented in the country.

According to the director of the Slovenian State Agency for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Development, Investment and Tourism (SPIRIT) Boshtian Skalar, there is great potential for expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries. He also spoke of the importance of using this potential, the expansion of ties between businessmen and the development of economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovenia.

On both sides, the meeting was attended by representatives of companies from the sectors as tourism, banking, energy, information and communication technology, construction, real estate, defense industry, security, consulting, education, and other fields.

The last meeting between the business people of the two countries was held in January 2013, during a visit of Slovenia's ex-Prime Minister, Janez Jansa to Azerbaijan's capital of Baku. Then AZPROMO and SPIRIT signed a memorandum of understanding.

According to Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, in January-August 2013 the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $8.47 million. Major part of this volume accounts for import of Slovenian goods to Azerbaijan, which has made up $8.46 million, 2.35 times more than in the same period of 2012.
