Turkey's revenues from tourism increased by 4.7 percent in the third quarter of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, the Turkish Statistical Institute said on Thursday.

Turkey got some $11.579 billion from the tourism business in July-September.

About 79.6 per cent of the total volume of revenues fell to the revenues from the foreign tourists.

According to the institute, about $8.367 million was got within private traveling and some $3.212 million within tourism packages.

"The number of tourists increased by four percent in the third quarter compared to the same period of 2012," the institute said.

Earlier, the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Omer Chelik said that Turkey's tourism sector is the fastest growing sphere and is important from an economic point of view.
