Minister: Azerbaijani state budget-2013 leaves nation with surplus

The Azerbaijani state budget for the first nine months left Azerbaijan with a surplus, Azerbaijani Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov said today while discussing the draft state and consolidated budgets for 2014 at an expanded meeting of the five parliamentary committees on economic, social, agrarian policy, security, as well as natural resources, energy and ecology.

The Azerbaijani state budget for the first nine months left Azerbaijan with a surplus, Azerbaijani Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov said today while discussing the draft state and consolidated budgets for 2014 at an expanded meeting of the five parliamentary committees on economic, social, agrarian policy, security, as well as natural resources, energy and ecology.

Azerbaijan's state budget revenues amounted to 14.33 billion manat, expenses - 12.72 billion manat, resulting in a surplus worth $ 1.61 billion manat in January -September.

"As of the first nine months, the state budget revenues exceeded expenditures," minister said. "We expect this dynamics to continue and the year to complete with a surplus."

According to Sharifov, the balance on the treasury account will be one of the sources to cover the state budget deficit next year. The state budget deficit for 2014 is forecasted at 1.679 billion manat compared to the forecast as of 2013 at the level of 691 million manat and the actual figure as of 2012 at 135 million manat.

According to the projections as of 2013, the state budget income was approved at 19.159 billion manat (increasing by 12.4 percent), expenses - 19.85 billion manat (increasing by 12.1 percent) , the state budget deficit - 691 million manat (increasing by 3.5 percent).

The official exchange rate is 0,7844 AZN/USD on Nov. 4.
