Deputy Minister: Azerbaijani economy to fulfil development concept before 2020

Azerbaijan, Baku, November 4/Trend, E.Aliyev/

The average annual growth rate of Azerbaijan's non-oil GDP will exceed the anticipated levels in the medium term, the country's Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Sevinc Hasanova said on Monday.

This was during a discussion of the draft state budget of Azerbaijan for 2014 at the expanded meeting of the five parliamentary committees on economic, social, agricultural policy, on security issues and on natural resources, energy and environment.

"The forecasts for the country's socio-economic development worked out by the ministry have been prepared by taking into account the development concept 'Azerbaijan 2020: A Look into the Future', reflecting the goals and tasks facing the country's economy in the medium term.

At the same time, if the average annual growth of Azerbaijan's non-oil GDP is sufficient to achieve the goals reflected where it is estimated at seven per cent, our prognosis indicate that this figure may be on average more than eight per cent a year," the Deputy Minister said.

This means according to the deputy chairman, it gives ground to presume that the tasks of the Azerbaijani economy will be fulfilled ahead of time in the coming years.
