Freighter with Georgian citrus for Russia enters Batumi port

A freighter set to transport Georgian citrus to the Russian port of Novorossiysk, entered Batumi port. Adjara's Agriculture Minister Zaur Putkaradze told media that citrus fruits are packed in accordance with European standards.

"Citrus fruits are being exported to Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Kazakhstan this year," he said. "The transportation of one ton of cargo on the Batumi -Novorossiysk route will cost $70, while forwarding and customs clearance of cargo in Novorossiysk costs $ 275."

Putkaradze added that a special information centre was created at the Batumi Chamber of Commerce on the initiative of Adjara's government.

The documents necessary for cargo exports are issued according to the 'single window' principle.
