Iran unveils its cheapest tablet for under $50

By Umid Niayesh, Saeed Isayev - Trend: Iran has unveiled its cheapest tablet, named "Dimo 500", Iranian Jahanesanat newspaper reported on Nov. 27.

Reza Moridavi, the managing director of "Ertebat Iraniane Arvand company", said that the tablet will be sold for $49 in domestic markets, while the price in foreign markets will be $45.

The Iranian-made tablet packs a 1.2 GHz-boxchip A13 processor, 4 GB internal memory and 512 MB ram.

A 7 inch "Dimo 500" works with Android operation system (Ice Cream Sandwich version 4.0.4) with resolution of 800*480.

The tablet supports 16 GB of memory card and its weight is about 350 grams.

Moridavi underlined that the company approximately sells 15,000 tablets per month, which shares 25 percent of domestic tablet market.

He also went on to note that the Iranian tablet manufacturer has exported some 2000 tablets to Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan during last three months.

Ertebatat Iraniane Arvand Company started exporting its products to regional markets in 2012. The company unveiled its first tablet in July, 2012.

Early in October, Iranian Donya-e-eqtesad newspaper reported that Samsung Galaxy has shared 35 percent of Iran's tablet market, during the 6th Iranian calendar month (August 23- September 22).

Apple`s IPad stood at the second place, with a share of 25.2 percent.

Asus stood at third place in Iran's tablet market. The share of the company from sells stood at 24.2 percent during the 6th Iranian calendar month.
