Euro price rises on Iran’s Forex Centre

The US dollar was sold at the price of 24,787 rials on Iran's Forex Centre on Wednesday, the IRNA News Agency reported on December 11.

Euros were also presented at the price of 34,108 rials each, while the British pound was traded at 40,756 rials.

Euros, British pounds and US dollars were traded at the prices of 34,103, 40,799, and 24,792 rials each on Tuesday.

The US dollar was also sold at the price of 29,400 rials on the free market on Wednesday, whilst the euro and British pound were presented at the price of 40,600, and 48,100 rials, respectively.

The foreign exchange centre was officially inaugurated on September 24, 2012.

The latest report released by the Central Bank of Iran shows that 20,245 applications have been registered at Iran's Foreign Exchange Centre from the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21) until June 13.

The centre allows importers of goods including truck tyres, construction equipment and synthetic fibres to buy dollars at a rate of two per cent cheaper than the street rate at any given time.

According to the centre's spokesman Samad Karimi, Iran's Forex Centre has the capacity to trade over 100 million dollars each working day.
