Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan.9
By Emin Aliyev - Trend:

Consultations with the Azerbaijani government on the project for the creation of the first biosphere reserve in the country can be completed in the first quarter of 2014, the Baku office of the German Development Bank (KfW) which finances the project told Trend on Jan.9.
"The project has been developed and is under consideration by the government. We expect that its deliberation will be completed following the conveyance of all necessary procedures in 2014," the office said.

Currently, the issue of allocation of additional financing for the project is not being considered due to the lack of necessity, KfW said.

It is planned to create the first biosphere reserve in Azerbaijan on the basis of two reserves in the Balakan and Zagatala regions. A 4.5 million euro grant was allocated for financing the project. These funds will be used to manage the reserve, as well as to protect the ecosystem of the park.
