Volume of construction operations increases by 4 percent in Azerbaijan

The volume of construction work increased by 4.1 percent to 8.1 billion manat in Azerbaijan in 2013 compared to 2012, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said today.

Some 66.1 percent of the total volume of construction work accounted for primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 18.4 percent - overhaul, 2.9 percent - current repair and 12.6 percent - other construction work, according to the committee.

Some 80.5 percent of the construction work was carried out by non-state construction companies.

Around 100,600 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in January-November 2013. The nominal wages in the construction sector amounted to 616.8 manat, which is 5.3 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.

The average monthly salary in state-owned companies amounted to 502.7 manat (with an increase of 6.5 percent per year), private companies - 669.3 manat (with an increase of 2.1 percent).

The level of wages in the construction of buildings increased by 0.6 percent per year - an average of 561.6 manat, specialized construction (increased by 4.9 percent) - up to 748.3 manat, civil construction operations increased by 24.2 percent - up to 603.8 manat.
