Production at some Iranian automakers drops sharply

Production of some models of cars has sharply dropped in some Iranian automakers in the ninth Iranian calendar month (ended Dec. 21, 2013) compared to the same month of last year, ISNA reported on January 25.
Production of Mazda 3 and MVM 315 have decreased by 100 percent and 98 percent, respectively, reaching from 80 units and 1625 units last year to zero units and 28 units, respectively.
Production of Peugeot Pars fell by 99.8 percent, reaching from 1319 units to just two units in the mentioned month.
Iranian carmakers produced around 72,000 cars in the ninth Iranian calendar month, IRNA reported on Dec. 27.
Although the output rose significantly compared to the month ago, but it was lower than the figure correspondent to the same month of last year.
National car production has reached 520,000 since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2013), which shows a 24.5 percent decline year on year, Iranian deputy industry minister Mohsen Salehnia said.
