Turkmenistan plans to commission new cotton-spinning factories in the near future, Turkmen Textile Industry Ministry said on Jan.28.

"Two new factories with annual capacity of 6,000 tons of cotton yarn each are located in the city of Seidi in Lebap province and in the Kunyaurgen district of Dashoguz province where the pre-commissioning works have entered the final stage," the ministry said.

Additionally, a cotton-spinning factory in the city of Turkmenabat with the designed capacity of about 4,000 tons of yarn per year is also in the pre-commissioning stage.

These facilities are being constructed by Norsel International Insaat Dis Ticaret Sanayi Limited which will commission them in February, 2014, according to the ministry.

The largest cotton-spinning factories were commissioned in Turkmenistan over the last three years in the cities of Turkmenabat, Dashoguz, Geoktepe, as well as a textile complex in the Rukhabat district of Ashgabat.
