Shipping company: Smoke generation on ferry in Baku caused by short circuit

The reason of the smoke generation on an Azerbaijani ferry in Baku last night was a short circuit, the "Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company" CJSC told Trend on Feb. 8.
"Approximately at 21:00 on Feb. 7, the smoke generation occurred on the ferry located at the "Zikh" plant. Open fire was not observed. The firefighters of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency prevented fire by taking all necessary measures," the CJSC noted.
The shipping company has reported that according to the preliminary version, the cause of the accident was a short circuit in the power supply of the ship.
"As a result of this, two cabins with the area of 12 square meters and corridor with the area of 40 square meters have been damaged. There are no casualties among the staff members," the shipping company noted.
The CJSC has reported that the information about fire on the ferry and the evacuation of people is incorrect.
"The team personnel of the ferry and workers of the plant assisted the firefighters of the Ministry of Emergency in the eradication of the smoke generation. The special Commission for investigating the occurred fire has been created. The damage caused as a result of the accident is small," the shipping company noted.
