Iran indigenizes technology to install container crane booms
Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb.11
By Fatih Karimov - Trend: For the first time in Iran, two container crane booms were installed at Shahid Rajaee port using indigenized technology, IRIB quoted Meshkat Jalilian, an official at Shahid Rajaee port complex as saying on Feb. 11.
The new container crane booms will increase the port's loading and unloading capacity from 3 million TEU to 3.3 million TEU per year, the official said.
The project will save half a million euro, he said, adding that three million euros have been spent to repair and install the booms.
The project has increased the number of operating container cranes at the port from 16 to 18. Shaihd Rajaee port is the country's largest commercial port, accounting for 70 percent of total shipments.
