Iran plans to export $2 bln worth of jewelries by March 2017

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran plans to export as much as $2 billion worth of jewelries by the Iranian calendar year 1395 (March 2016-March 2017), IRNA quoted head of the union of Iranian jewelry producers and exporters Ebadollah Mohammad Vali as saying on February 15.

The global trade turnover of jewelries amounts to $1 trillion, the union head added.

The country has the capacity to export $5 billion worth of jewelries, Vali said.

Currently, around 130,000 people work in the jewelry industry, and the figure can be increased to 350,000, the head of the union of Iranian jewelry producers and exporters said.

Russia, East Europe, and the Arab states of the Persian Gulf are the main destinations for Iran's gold and jewelry products, Vali further said.
