Some $ 2.7 bln invested in Azerbaijan’s road infrastructure in 2013

Some 2.1 billion manat were spent to maintain and develop the road network in Azerbaijan in 2013, the Cabinet of Ministers' report on the results of activity last year submitted to the Azerbaijani Parliament states.

"Some 584.7 kilometers of roads, including 266 kilometers of national roads and 318.7 km of local roads were reconstructed during the reporting period," according to the report. "Some 39 bridges were built on the roads and 23 bridges were repaired. Funds worth 464.7 and 225.9 million manat were spent for the operations carried out as part of the projects financed through foreign loans received under state guarantees."

The operations on the construction of the Gandob road at the Russia and Agstafa border, and the Poylu - Georgian border have national significance. Reconstruction of local roads Gabala - Kusnat - Laza , Guba- Gusar, from Mingachevir to the railway station , Mingachevir - Bahramtepe and dozens of other road projects were continued in 2013, according to the document.

"Some 86 units of vehicles and machinery were purchased for maintenance, development and construction of the road infrastructure in Baku and regions , as well as to strengthen the operational bases of the road departments in 2013," according to a government report.

The official exchange rate is 0.7844 AZN/USD on March 11.
