EY Azerbaijan is a Gold sponsor of The Economist's Azerbaijan Investment Summit, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Baku on 12 March 2014. Mr. Ilgar Veliyev presented at the panel discussion dedicated to the role of skills and education as a key lever of sustainable economic development.

The Azerbaijan Investment Summit assembled over 150 international audiences of policymakers, CEOs, investors and NGOs to discuss opportunities for Azerbaijan to accelerate its economic development.

More than 15 top-level speakers and 52 international delegates from over 10 countries as well as other influential leaders from government, industry and academia came together to address the major market trends, strategic prospects, and investment and development opportunities in Azerbaijan.

Throughout the Summit on 12 March, the industry's most successful leaders outlined risk scenarios that investors should prepare for and assessed the investment opportunities of one of The Caspian's largest markets.

Ilgar Veliyev took part in the "Skills and education - developing Azerbaijan's talent pipeline" panel discussion together with Mr. Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Education, Mr. Hafiz Pashayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Paul Holloway General Manager of JTI Caucasus.

Ilgar Veliyev shared his views on exploring the role of human capital in a country's sustainable economic development and competitiveness: "EY Azerbaijan is committed to contributing to the sustainable development of the country. As a part of the country's growing success, we recognize that Azerbaijan needs a sufficient number of experienced professionals to bring performance improvements and business value both to the government and investors."

He also added that the major commitment of EY Azerbaijan is to develop the accounting profession and implement the best international practices in Azerbaijan, thus providing the economy with qualified professionals in accounting and finance.
