Malfunctioning Russian ship to leave Baku after repair and other procedures

Vatan-1 ship is in the port of Baku, where the technical problems are being eliminated, the Azerbaijan State Maritime Administration told Trend on March 15.

The ship will be able to leave the port after he completion of repair and other procedures, the administration said.

There are six Ukrainian and four Russian citizens on the shipboard, according to Russian media. It is the third day that the crew of Vatan-1 ship is without food, fuel and electricity.

The ship owned by VTS-Trans shipping company arrived in Baku one and a half month ago. The ship brought cement from Russia to Azerbaijan and stayed for repair because of problems in its engines.

The crew decided to repair it by themselves. But the owner didn't bring the spare parts. VTS-Trans owed some $100,000 the port, the ship's captain, Timur Kamalov said.

The ship's crew: Russian citizens - Timur Kamalov, Alex Bakulin, Elena Kosyreva, Asudala Asudalaev; citizens of Ukraine - Maxim Ponomarchuk, Pavel Savchenko, Dmitry Bush, Alex Vekov, Dmitry Knyazev, Oleg Komisarchuk.
