Kazakhstan will use the warm-mix asphalt technology for the first time in construction of the 45-kilometer stretch of the Kurty-Burlybaital highway, the country's Ministry of Transport and Communications said.

The design estimates for the construction will be worked out by late 2014.

The road will be constructed as part of the work on developing the Center-South direction, the ministry said. It is planned to start the construction work in September 2014 and to complete the project in 2016.

"The 45-kilometer stretch of the Kurty-Burlybaital highway will be the first in Kazakhstan to be constructed using the warm-mix asphalt," the country's ministry said.

The use of warm-mix asphalt reduces power inputs and the cost of road construction by 25 percent and 5 percent, respectively, according to the country's Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Additionally, the use of this technology significantly reduces harmful emissions into the atmosphere, which in turn improves working conditions.

Kazakhstan carried out experimental work for the first time in 2013 on using the micro-surfacing pavement that will replace the rough surface processing technology and will increase the overhaul life of the road by two or three years. Moreover, experimental work was conducted on construction of monolithic reinforced concrete bridges that reduce the cost of construction by 30 percent.
