"This is the "Aktobe-Atyrau-Astrakhan" project - a road section about 800 kilometers. Furthermore, following the "Western Europe - Western China" project the ADB wants to participate in the implementation of three major projects in Kazakhstan. These are "Center - South" which connects the cities of Almaty and Astana, "Center - East" which connects Astana with Ust -Kamenogorsk through Pavlodar city, and "Center-West" which will connect Astana directly with Aktau port ," acting chairman of the Motor Roads Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications Satzhan Ablaliyev said.

The construction of these sites is financed from the state budget.
The length of the "Center - South" automobile road is 1,200 kilometers, "Center - East" - 1,000 kilometers and "Center - West" -1,800 kilometers.

A number of joint projects with ADB are implemented in Kazakhstan, according to Ablaliev.

First of all, is the "Western Europe - Western China" construction corridor. Its total length is 8,445 kilometers, but some 2,787 kilometers pass through the territory of Kazakhstan, some 2,452 kilometers of which are under reconstruction. The project will be fully completed by the end of 2015. Some 215 km of the road commissioned in Kazakhstan in 2011, 700 kilometers- 2012, 812 kilometers - 2013. It is planned to complete the reconstruction of 1,345 kilometers of roads this year. The implementation of the project will be completed by the end of 2015.
In general, ADB has allocated some $ 920 million for the construction of sections of the transport corridor.

Another major project is being implemented in the Mangistau region of the country. Kazakhstan signed a framework agreement with the bank on the financing of the reconstruction of roads in the region for $800 million. As of today an agreement in the amount of $650 million has been signed. The project on the construction of the automobile road from Beyneu to Aktau with the length of 370 kilometers is implemented with these funds. The project should be completed by the end of 2017.

ADB has also financed the reconstruction of the "Almaty-Bishkek" automobile road. The road is part of the transport corridor "Western Europe - Western China", with a length of 205 kilometers.
Furthermore, ADB is one of the major donors to Kazakhstan in the sphere of support of agriculture and financial sectors, the acting minister said.

Asian Development Bank was founded in 1966, and its shareholders include 67 member countries. Kazakhstan joined ADB in 1994. The cooperation between Kazakhstan and ADB is carried out in a number of directions - transport sector, energy industry, improving governance system and developing private sector.

At the same time, Kazakhstan intends to cease being a recipient of technical and gratuitous assistance and become a partner of ADB on assisting the developing countries.
