A crude oil desalting plant was inaugurated in southern Iran.

The plant has been established at Lab Sefid oilfield in Khuzestan Province, Iran's IRIB reported on May 6.

The project cost 234 billion rials (about $9 million) to complete. It will have the capacity to desalt 30,000 barrels of oil per day.

The country's oil refineries have a total capacity to refine 1.85 million barrels of crude oil and gas condensates, the Mehr News Agency reported on February 25.

Once development projects currently underway in Isfahan, Bandar Abbas and the Persian Gulf Star refineries come on stream, the capacity will be increased to 2.2 mbpd.

To date, $3.5 billion plus 24 trillion rials, around $960 million has been invested in development projects in refineries.
