Expenditures on technological innovations see sevenfold increase in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's enterprises increased their expenditures on the technological innovations by seven times, from 61 billion tenge to 431.9 billion tenge (182.41 tenge = $1), Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan, Asset Issekeshev said.

He made the remarks on May 22 during the 9th Innovation Congress held as part of the 7th Astana Economic Forum.

"We have managed to increase the share of the innovation-active enterprises from 4 percent to 8 percent since 2009. Thus, the expenditures of the enterprises on technological innovations have increased by 7 times, from 61 billion tenge to 431.9 billion tenge, while the volume of innovative products increased from 82.6 billion tenge to 578.2 billion tenge," the minister said.

Issekeshev pointed out that the Innovation Congress attended by over 400 people, including delegates from some 12 countries, is dedicated to the role of innovations in the second five-year industrialization program

The minister emphasized the positive results of the country's innovation policy carried out under the state program of forced industrial-innovative development of Kazakhstan for 2010-2014.

During the Innovation Congress, It is planned to sign a number of memorandums and agreements on understanding and cooperation with foreign partners.

Kazakhstan's National Agency for Technological Development JSC plans to sign memorandums with the following companies: Initiative EncoreKorea, KITeM, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP, Republic of Korea), International Development Norway (Norway), Silicon Valley Innovation Center (U.S.), Belarusian Institute of System Analysis and Information Support for Scientific and Technical Sphere, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and etc.
