Azerbaijan announces pre-qualification tender within EBRD`s major road project

"Azeryolservis" JSC of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport has announced a pre-qualification tender within the reconstruction project for the Mingachevir-Bahramtepe automobile road.

"Azeryolservis" JSC of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport has announced a pre-qualification tender within the reconstruction project for the Mingachevir-Bahramtepe automobile road.

As part of the tender, the work on the construction of Garahaji - Bahramtepe site (111.3 km) of the Mingyachevir-Bahramtepe road will be purchased.
The work will be carried out in the framework of a loan allocated by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The construction work includes earthwork on a two-lane road, pavement reconstruction, construction of drainage systems, renewal of three bridges, installation of equipment and road signs.

The signing of a contract with a contractor is scheduled for March 2015, the period of construction work is for 24 months.
The firms and joint ventures from any country are allowed to participate in the tender

Tender participation cost is 100 manat.
The documents for participation in the preliminary stage of the tender should be submitted before 17:00 on July 24, 2014.

In December 2011, Azerbaijan and the EBRD signed a loan agreement on the provision of $750 million for the implementation of major transport projects.

The signed loan agreements provide allocation of the first tranche in the amount $250 million for the reconstruction of major highways that will provide access to regional transport corridors. The remaining two tranches will be allocated in equal shares $250 million for each.

The first tranche will be used entirely for the reconstruction of the Mingachevir-Bahramtepe highway. The reconstruction of the 156-kilometer stretch of road in accordance with modern requirements will improve transport links in rural areas, where population of about half million live, as well as will help to ensure the access to the trunk-road linking Baku with the Georgian border.

Official exchange rate on June 5 is 0.7843 AZN / USD.
