Georgia’s foreign trade turnover with EU countries grows by 15 percent

Georgia's foreign trade turnover with EU countries stood at $1.408 billion in January -June 2014, which is 15 percent more than in the same period of 2013, Georgia's National Statistical Service (GeoStat) said in its report on July 24.

About $296 million worth of export transactions were carried out with EU countries (an increase by 41 percent), while the import transactions totaled $1.113 billion (an increase by 9 percent) during the reporting period.

The share of EU countries in Georgia's total foreign trade turnover amounted to 26 percent (21 percent in export and 28 percent in import) during the reporting period.

The EU countries accounted for 31 percent of Georgia's trade deficit, compared to 36 percent in the same period of 2013.
