Tajikistan implements road projects worth about $600 million

Tajikistan is implementing a number of projects on construction and reconstruction of roads, Avesta.Tj reported on August 5. The total cost of these projects amounts to $598 million.

All these projects are funded by foreign investment, i.e. loans and grants, provided by international financial institutions and foreign countries, according to Tajik Transport Ministry.

In the near future, construction and reconstruction work are planned to be completed at Shagon-Zigar road (third phase), Shuroobod-Shagon section of Kulob-Qalai Khumb road, Dushanbe-Uzbekistan border road and others.

Moreover, the feasibility study for Labidzhar-Tavildara road rehabilitation is at the final stage of development and purchase of new equipment and machinery for road maintenance is planned.

Tajikistan also develops investment projects on construction and reconstruction of Khujand-Osh, Kalai Khumb -Kulm, Dushanbe -Kurganteppa, Gulistan-Farhor-Panj roads and others.

According to preliminary estimation implementation, these projects will require over 7.2 billion somoni ($ 1.4 billion).
