As of the third quarter of 2014, the uranium production volume totaled 5,700 metric tons in Kazakhstan, which corresponds to the planned indices, Kazatomprom national atomic company said Oct.28.
"Kazatomprom's uranium production volume amounted to 3,160 metric tons for the third quarter 2014, including the shares in subsidiaries," the company said.
The beryllium production totaled 430.4 metric tons, tantalum production - 17.6 metric tons at the Ulbin Metallurgical Plant in the third quarter of 2014, the company said.
"MAEK-Kazatomprom" LLP generated 3.140 billion kWh of electricity, 578,000 Gcal of heat energy, 102.6 million cubic meters of water, including 7.4 million cubic meters of drinking water for consumers of Aktau city and Mangistau region in July-September 2014. These indices ensure the region's needs of energy and water.
The work on the strategic directions of the company's activity in the field of conversion, enrichment and nuclear fuel production continued in accordance with the Kazatomprom development program in the third quarter.
The Uranium Enrichment Center shipped 2,192,119 finished products.
SARECO joint venture produced 82 metric tons of bulk concentrate of rare earth metals in the third quarter.
The finished products were shipped to customers in Russia. It is planned to begin shipments to Japan.
Astana Solar LLP produced 21,993 panels in the third quarter of this year, which corresponds to 5.45 MW of energy.
Kazatomprom JSC is the national operator of Kazakhstan for the export of uranium and uranium compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, technologies and materials with dual purposes.
Its main activities are geological exploration, the extraction of uranium, the manufacturing of products involved in the nuclear fuel cycle and construction materials as well as power industry, science, social security and personnel training.
