Kazakhstan decreased grain export by 4.1 percent in January-September 2014 compared to the same period of 2013

Kazakhstan decreased grain export by 4.1 percent in January-September 2014 compared to the same period of 2013, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to Statistics Committee under Kazakh Ministry of National Economy.

The country exported 3.049 million metric tons of wheat and meslin (mixture of wheat and rye) in this period.
In monetary terms, wheat and meslin exports decreased by 15.4 percent to $702.5 million in first nine months of 2014.

Moreover, Kazakhstan exported 1.317 million metric tons of wheat and rye flour (9.8 percent increase) in January-September 2014.
In monetary terms, wheat and rye flour rose by 3.5 percent to $396.3 million.

Kazakhstan is among the world's major grain exporters. In 2011 the republic had a record harvest of nearly 27 million metric tons of grain in net weight. In 2012 Kazakh farmers yielded only 14.8 metric tons of grain due to the summer drought that occurred in the main grain regions. In 2013 the grain harvest hit 18.9 million metric tons including 14.5 million metric tons of wheat.
