The newly appointed ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Fam Van Fao delivered the copies of his credentials to Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, the Uzbek foreign ministry said Nov. 14.

The relevant issues of Uzbek-Vietnamese relations in the political, trade-economic, investment and other areas were discussed during the meeting.

Uzbekistan and Vietnam have significant potential for the development of bilateral cooperation.
They are ready to support and promote business contacts between businessmen of both countries.

Certain international and regional problems were discussed at the meeting.

Fam Van Fao replaced Le Manh Luan, who completed his mission in Uzbekistan in September 2014.

The relations between Vietnam and Uzbekistan are regulated by a number of documents, including the treaty on the basis of interstate relations and cooperation, intergovernmental agreements on mutual promotion and protection of investments, scientific and technical cooperation, cooperation in the field of tourism, the creation of an intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific technical cooperation.

The economic relations between Vietnam and Uzbekistan are actively developed in the trade, investment, taxation policy, air transport, science and technology, tourism, public safety, exploration and production of hydrocarbons.

There are 15 enterprises with the Vietnamese capital in Uzbekistan, including three companies - with full foreign capital. They are engaged in the fields of the silk industry, trade and catering.
