Uzbekistan and Hungary are interested in increasing trade turnover, expanding trade and economic, investment, scientific and technical cooperation.

The remarks were made during the second meeting of Uzbekistan-Hungary intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation held in Budapest this week, Jahon news agency under Uzbek Foreign Ministry said on Nov.28.

The meeting was attended by ministers, heads of companies, concerns of the two countries in charge for foreign economic relations, financial and banking sphere, economy, trade, industry, agriculture, pharmaceutical spheres, food industry, health care and tourism.

They exchanged information about the current socio-economic development of the two countries, and views about the prospects for the mutually beneficial cooperation.

Following the meeting, the sides signed a protocol which reflects an agreement to strengthen and expand the multi-faceted cooperation in various areas.

The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Hungary stood at $39.8 million in 2013. Uzbekistan exported $1.3 million worth of goods to Hungary and imported $38.5 million worth of goods from this country.

Three enterprises with participation of Hungarian investors operate in Uzbekistan.

Moreover, representative offices of four Hungarian companies, including Gedeon Richter JSC, Horus Intertrade & Consulting K.F.T., Egis JSC and others were accredited at Uzbekistan's Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade.
