SOCAR reduces volume of drilling operations by over 14%

The volume of drilling operations carried out by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (excluding joint ventures and operating companies) stood at 118,840 meters in January-November 2014, compared to 138,439 meters in the same period of 2013, SOCAR said Dec. 2.

Some 116,656 meters of the total volume of the drilling operations carried out by SOCAR for eleven months, fell to the production drilling (131,475 meters in January-November 2013), while the remaining part fell to the exploratory drilling, SOCAR said.

The volume of drilling operations carried out by SOCAR in 2013, was equal to 142,656 meters, compared to 136,441 meters in 2012.

Around 135,665 meters of the total volume of drilling operations carried out in 2013, fell to the production drilling, and 6,991 meters accounted for the exploratory drilling.

SOCAR includes Azneft (a production association of enterprises that produce oil and gas on land and sea), Azerkimya (a production association of chemical industry enterprises) and Azerigas (deals with distribution of gas in the country).

Jointly with foreign partners, SOCAR participates in such large projects as the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields and Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Caspian Sea.
