Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec.9

By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC may launch additional train routes to Russia in case of demand and dense passenger traffic, the head of the press service of CJSC Nadir Azmammadov told Trend Dec.9.

"The possibility of launch of additional train routes may be considered during the making of the summer schedule of traffic working, and this decision will depend on the availability of large passenger traffic," said Azmammadov.

At the same time, this issue should be also agreed upon with the Russian side as well, because the schedule of arrival and departure of trains is made in advance, according to the head of the press service. "In case of demand and an agreement with the Russian side, the launch of additional train routes will be possible," said Azmammadov.

He said that the choice of direction for launch of additional train routes will depend on demand from passengers.

Earlier, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC said that Russian Railways JSC stops implementing train routes on the directions of Moscow-Baku, Rostov-Baku and Tyumen-Baku starting from December 2014 due to economic inexpediency. Starting from Dec. 16, the implementation of Rostov-Baku train route stops, Tyumen-Baku train route stops as of Dec. 18, and the passenger Moscow-Baku train route stops as of Dec. 20, said the CJSC.

Since December 14, 2014, Tyumen-Makhachkala train route will be introduced instead of Tyumen-Baku train passenger route, said the head of the press service of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. "Many Azerbaijanis live in Tyumen, and I would like to announce for them that tickets for the route from Makhachkala will be available in Baku."

Despite the closure of a number of railway routes in Baku by the Russian side, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC will continue to implement its train routes to Moscow (departure on Thursdays) and Kharkiv (every four days according to the schedule), he said.

He went on to add that despite the closure of Rostov-Baku train route, passengers will be able to benefit from using the Baku-Kharkiv route.
