Foreign trade surplus exceeds $12B in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 9.13 percent in January-November 2014 compared to the same period of last year, the committee said Dec. 15.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 147 countries.

The total trade turnover of Azerbaijan hit $28.83 billion, according to the report.

Black ink worth over $12.6 billion was formed in foreign trade operations.

Foreign trade surplus was $12.26 billion in the same period of last year, while $767.18 million as of November 2014.

About 6,012 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 3,609 being legal entities and 2,403 physical entities, according to the report.

Export operations reached $20.71 billion in January-November, which is 5.82 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $19.48 billion, the private sector share - $1.028 billion and physical entities' share- $209.44 million.

Imports exceeded $8.11 billion in January-November, which is 16.61 percent less compared to the same period of 2013.

The public sector share in import operations was estimated at nearly $2.13 billion, private sector share- $5.66 billion and physical entities share - $328.44 million.

About 2,084 kinds of goods were exported from and 5,984 imported to Azerbaijan in January-November.
