Azerbaijan reduces cattle import from Georgia by over 30%

Georgia exported 11,460 metric tons of live cattle worth $28.6 million to Azerbaijan in January-November 2014, the Georgian National Statistics Service's report as of eleven months says.

The share of this category in the total volume of Georgia's exports to Azerbaijan hit 5.6 percent during the reporting period.

The volume of cattle exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan dropped by 34.6 percent or by 6,010 metric tons (34.38 percent) in January-November 2014 compared to the same period of 2013.

For comparison, some 17,470 metric tons of live cattle worth $43.75 million were exported from Georgia to Azerbaijan in January-November 2013.

Around 19.4 percent of Georgia's exports accounted for Azerbaijan in January-November 2014.

Georgia exported $510.7 million worth of goods to Azerbaijan during this period. The export to Azerbaijan decreased by 21 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

For comparison, $646.75 million worth of Georgian goods were exported to Azerbaijan in January-November 2013.

Azerbaijan ranks first among the countries to which Georgia exports its products, followed by Armenia ($269.37 million), Russia ($253.69 million), Turkey ($218.995 million) and the US ($190.09 million).
