Students at the Islamic Azad University of Qazvin have manufactured a two-seat electric car.

The car, weighing 80 kilograms, is two meters long and 1.2 meters wide, the Mehr news agency said Dec. 28.

Charging the car's batteries takes three hours. The car can travel more than 200 kilometers per charge.

It has been designed and manufactured over the course of one year.

A similar car is currently sold in Turkey at 185,000 EUR.

Benefits of electric cars over conventional internal combustion engine automobiles include a significant reduction of local air pollution, as they do not emit tailpipe pollutants, and a large reduction in total greenhouse gas and other emissions.
