Short-term economic indicator increases by 2.8% in Kazakhstan in 2014

Short-term economic indicator in Kazakhstan in 2014 increased by 2.8 percent compared to 2013, the press service of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic said Jan.14.

The calculation of short-term economic indicator is carried out to ensure efficiency and is based on the change in the index of manufacture on the basic industries: agriculture, industry, construction, trade, transport and communication, which account for 67-68 percent of GDP, according to the ministry.

Investment in fixed assets in January-December 2014 amounted to 6.574.7 billion KZT ($1 -183, 55 KZT), which is 3.9 percent more than in 2013.

Volume of industrial output in January-December 2014 amounted to almost 18.493 million KZT in current prices, which is 0.2 percent more than in 2013. Mining and quarrying production saw a decrease of 0.3 percent, production in water supply, sewerage system, control over the collection and distribution of waste decreased by 5.5 percent. In manufacturing, production increased by 1 percent, in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning - by 2.3 percent.

Volume of gross production (services) of agriculture in January-December 2014 amounted to about 2.51 trillion KZT, which is 0.8 percent more than in 2013.

Foreign trade turnover of Kazakhstan in January-November 2014 amounted to $110.589 billion and in comparison with January-November 2013 decreased by 9.9 percent, including export - $73.269 billion (6.7 percent less), imports - $37, 32 billion (15.6 percent less).

The consumer price index in December 2014 amounted to 107.4 percent compared to December 2013. Prices for food products increased by 8 percent, non-food - by 7.8 percent, paid services to the population - by 6.4 percent. Prices of manufacturers for industrial products in December 2014 decreased by 1.6 percent compared to December 2013.

The nominal average income of the population in November 2014 amounted to 62,355 KZT, which is 9.1 percent higher than in November 2013, real incomes for the period increased by 1.4 percent, according to the estimates.

The average monthly nominal wage per employee in November 2014 amounted to 119,111 KZT, an increase amounted to 11 percent compared to November 2013. Real wage index amounted to 103.2 percent in November 2013.

The number of unemployed in December 2014 amounted to 458,800 people, according to estimates. The unemployment rate was 5 percent of the economically active population. Number of persons registered in employment agencies as unemployed as of late December 2014 amounted to 33,400 people, or 0.4 percent of the economically active population. Hidden unemployment level amounted to 0.3 percent of the economically active population, according to the estimates.
