Remittance volume to Georgia reduces by almost 25% in Dec.

The remittance volume to Georgia amounted to $116.1 million in December 2014 or by $38.5 million (24.9 percent) less than in December 2013.

The reduction mainly affected the remittances from Russia, where the ruble rate greatly reduced, the Georgian National Bank told Trend.

Azerbaijan ranks tenth among the biggest donors of Georgia. Around $2.1 million was transferred from the country to Georgia in December. Azerbaijan's share in the total share of remittances per month increased from 1.2 percent in November to 1.8 percent in December.

Around $20.2 million were transferred from Georgia to abroad in December 2014 compared to $ 15.4 million in December 2013.
