Bakcell, the first mobile operator and the leading mobile internet provider of Azerbaijan, together with Microsoft Azerbaijan and the High Technologies Park (HTP) have launched joint activities aimed at developing skills and supporting the work of young programmers and start-ups in Azerbaijan.
The main goal of the AppLab project is to provide effective tools for the entrepreneurs and application developers to help accelerate their ideas and create innovative turn-key mobile applications for Azerbaijani and international markets. Within the framework of the project, young developers have the opportunity to visit the AppLab office, located at the Sahil office of Bakcell, and equipped with free Internet access, desks and training space; and use the latest devices for testing their products.
Dedicated team of experts from Bakcell and Qualcomm provides the necessary support for young developers in designing and implementing a proof of concept for new mobile applications, across a broader range of local market indications.
Microsoft will enable usage of wide-range features of its BizSpark software by the members of the AppLab and High-Tech Park. The AppLab members, who join this global ecosystem, will have an opportunity to use Microsoft software, designed especially for developers and start-ups, along with cloud environment and a variety of training courses on technology and business free of charge. Moreover, the participants of the project will gain access to various investors and consultants, and benefit from an opportunity to bring own developed apps to international markets and enjoy other broad marketing opportunities.
Bakcell has cooperated closely with the HTP, within the frames of various projects aimed at supporting the start-ups in Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding, signed with Bakcell, the High-Tech Park has agreed to cooperate in the field of exchange of ideas, support and education. According to agreement with Microsoft, the HTP will be engaged in mutual cooperation in the area of BizSpark Network Program, contents and services designed for boosting technological development by means of technology events and programs, as well as the area of providing relevant information about the available Microsoft licensed programs to the residents of High-Tech Park, and promotion of Microsoft's technology events and programs among the residents of High-Tech Park.
By implementing the BizSpark program, Microsoft provides ample opportunities for the program to be used by projects operating in the Business Incubation Centre of High Technology Park within the frames of mutual cooperation, as well as by participants of the AppLab program. A total of 38 different-profile projects are currently operating in the Business Incubation Centre of HTP. The said projects are also able to make effective use of and benefit from the government support.
