Istanbul-Ankara train route has been canceled in Turkey on Monday, the channel Haber7 reported Feb. 2.

The route is canceled due to the fact that hurricane-force winds damaged the railway infrastructure (contact network) of the Istanbul-Ankara railway.

At present, recovery work is being carried out on the mentioned railway line.

A powerful storm, now in its second day, has caused the deaths of five people across Turkey, in Balikesir, Canakkale and Bursa provinces.

In Bursa, three people were killed and 110 others injured, over 300 rooftops and 100 cars were damaged.

Numerous electricity pylons, trees and roofs collapsed in the provinces of Istanbul, Bursa and Yalova.

In Istanbul, sea voyages were canceled due to strong winds.
