Kazakhstan increases vehicle taxes

Taxes on vehicles increased in Kazakhstan in 2014, Ranking.kz. analytical service said.

"The owners of private vehicles paid taxes worth 31.6 billion tenge ($ 1 - 184.45 tenge) in 2014," the analysts said. "This is by two billion more than in 2013."

Growth was registered in 15 regions. The largest increase was observed in Almaty (by 687 million tenge to 8 billion) and Almaty region (by 274 million tenge to 3.3 billion). The highest growth rates are in the West Kazakhstan region - 19 percent up to one billion tenge. A vehicle owner paid an average of 8,500 tenge per car compared to 8,300 in 2013. The most expensive average checks on vehicle taxes are in the East Kazakhstan region (17,300 tenge per car) and Karaganda region (12,600 tenge).

The private car owners of Almaty and Almaty region in 2014 paid almost 36 percent of all vehicle taxes - 11.3 billion tenge. For comparison, the share of the megalopolis and the surrounding area was 34.8 percent in 2013, the analytical service said.
