By Azad Hasanli - Trend:

Turkey offers to exempt agricultural procurements exported to Azerbaijan from payment of customs duty, the Minister of Economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci said Feb.5 in Baku at the meeting with Azerbaijani and Turkish businessmen.

He said that Turkey is interested in bringing the trade turnover with Azerbaijan up to $15 billion.

"Turkey has an agreement with the EU Customs Union, however it includes products of light industry," he said. "We have already proposed EU to sign the corresponding agreement on agricultural products. In addition, we are also ready to sign an agreement for the exemption of agricultural procurements to Azerbaijan as well."

At the same time, the minister said that the agreement, if signed, will affect selective goods.

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey at the end of 2014 amounted to $1,789 billion, $1.3 billion of which accounted for import from Turkey to Azerbaijan, while $502.49 million accounted for export to Turkey, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
