Kazakh banks have increased lending by 7.2 percent in 2014

Kazakh banks have increased lending by 7.2 percent in 2014, Kazakh National Bank reported on Feb. 5.

The total volume of banks loans given to business amounted to 12.106 trillion tenge (184.75 tenge = $1) in 2014. Small businesses received 14.8 percent of all the loans or almost 1.788 trillion tenge.

The volume of loans in national currency increased by 7.9 percent to almost 8.566 trillion tenge, in foreign currency - rose by 5.5 percent to 3.541 trillion tenge. Proportion of national currency loans increased from 70.3 percent in December 2013 to 70.8 percent in December 2014.

The volume of residents' deposits in banks increased by 15.9 percent to 11.694 trillion tenge in 2014. Deposits in national currency decreased by 17.7 percent to almost to 5.198 trillion tenge, in foreign currency increased by 72.2 percent and exceeded 6.496 trillion tenge.

Deposits in banks (including non-residents) increased by 12.5 percent to 4.438 trillion tenge.

A total number of 38 banks are operating in Kazakhstan.
