Georgia sees increase in number of tourists from Azerbaijan

The number of tourists from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 19 percent in 2014, compared to 2013, the Public Relations Department of Georgian National Tourism Administration told Trend on Feb.24.
In total, 1.282 million tourists from Azerbaijan visited Georgia in 2014.
The total number of foreign tourists visiting Georgia in 2014 increased by 2 percent and exceeded 5.493 million people.
Some 88 percent (4.84 million people) visited Georgia from neighboring countries in 2014.
Azerbaijan is among the top three countries for the number of visitors to Georgia. Turkey ranks first (nearly 1.436 million tourists in 2014), the second is Armenia (around 1.322 million tourists), the fourth - Russia (810.233), the fifth - Ukraine.
By comparison, the number of visitors from Azerbaijan to Georgia increased by 16.3 percent in December 2013.
The number of visitors to Georgia from the EU countries is increasing (231,402 people in 2014, or 10.8 percent more than in 2013), according to Georgian National Tourism Administration. Most travelers came to Georgia from Poland (46,024 tourists), Germany (33,315) and Greece (21,408).
