The issue of creating a closed joint-stock company for rendering satellite services is being discussed in Turkmenistan, the message from the country's government said.
Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has ordered to work out the drafts of the relevant documents, according to the message.
Turkmenistan will launch its first telecommunications satellite TurkmenAlem 520E in the first half of 2015. The National Satellite Control Center is located in the Ahal province of the country.
Turkmenistan's satellite is being built by the French Thales Alenia Space. The satellite will be launched by the US SpaceX company from Cape Canaveral.
The satellite will cover a part of Europe, Africa and Asia and will allow Turkmenistan to make a significant breakthrough in the sphere of telecommunications and other applications such as the Internet and mobile communications.
The astroclimatic conditions in Turkmenistan are among the best ones in the planet for carrying out astronomical observations. In particular, the transparency of the atmosphere, favorable wind regime and illumination allow to observe space objects for over 2,000 hours throughout a year.
