Volume of Azerbaijani oil transportation via BTC increases

Around 7.22 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline in January-March 2015, which is 3.1 percent more than in the same period of 2014 (7 million metric tons), Azerbaijan's State Oil Company (SOCAR) said Apr.3.

Aside from Azerbaijan's oil, the pipeline also transports the oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

In 2014, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported about 28.51 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil versus 29.7 million metric tons in 2013.

Since its commissioning, the pipeline in general has transported 271.06 million metric tons of oil.

The message said that last year some 29.13 million metric tons of oil was delivered from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world markets as compared to 29.2 million metric tons in 2013.

Some 6.86 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil has been delivered from Ceyhan to world markets in Jan.-Mar. 2015 versus 6.8 million metric tons in Jan.-Mar. 2014.

Some 29.13 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil has been delivered from Ceyhan to world markets in total in 2014 compared to 29.2 million metric tons in 2013.

As of March 1, 2015, some 268.8 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil have been delivered from Ceyhan to world markets since the commissioning of BTC pipeline.

The total length of the BTC is 1,768 kilometers, of which 443 kilometers goes through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers through Georgia and 1,076 through Turkey.

The pipeline's construction started in April 2003, and began flowing with oil on May 18, 2005.

Stockholders of the BTC Co. are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (five percent), Total (five percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
