Turkmenistan publishes data on electricity export

Electricity production in Turkmenistan is expected to reach 21.9 billion kilowatt-hours, while energy export - up to 2.89 billion kilowatt-hours in 2015, the ministry of energy of the country said.

The message said that the work to improve the country's energy supply and increase the volumes of electricity export will continue.

With this purpose, in 2015 it is scheduled to begin construction of gas turbine power plants Watan and Zerger in Lebap region and complete the construction of the power plant with capacity of 504.4 megawatts in Derweze district of Ahal province.

The power industry is one of the leading sectors of the national economy of Turkmenistan, which aims to fully satisfy the needs of industry, agriculture, social sector of Turkmenistan, as well as increase the volumes of exports. Now Turkmen electricity is exported to Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey.
